Client news: Wausau earns Wisconsin Safety Award three years in a row

For the third, consecutive year, the Wisconsin Safety Council honored Wausau Window and Wall Systems with a Corporate Safety Award.

Nominees for the Wisconsin Corporate Safety Award submitted safety data and a report describing the company’s occupational safety and health practices. “Based on our organization’s low lost time injury incidence rate, we were selected for the third year in a row as an ‘outstanding leader’ in keeping Wisconsin a safe place to work and to live,” said Doug Janz, Wausau’s safety manager, who accepted the finalist’s award certificate.

As stated on the Outstanding Achievement Certificate for Excellence in Safety: the Wisconsin Safety Council “recognizes that all too often employers do not realize the human and economic value of strong occupational safety and health efforts. Moreover, many employers do not realize the positive effect and health recognition can have on employee morale and production, as well as potential business opportunities.”

Further contributing to the morale, health and safety of its employees and community, Wausau’s manufacturing facility was designed and built to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC’s) LEED® Silver-level certification for energy and environmental leadership. Multiple studies have documented measurable benefits for improved daylighting, natural ventilation and indoor air quality in buildings including reduced illness and absenteeism, and productivity gains of up to 16%.

According to the USGBC, newly constructed buildings rated LEED-Silver have demonstrated 32% energy savings compared to national averages. Green and LEED-rated buildings also have shown reductions in carbon emissions by 35%, water use by 50%, and construction waste by 50%.
